Styling your hair the right way is not only the key to looking handsome, but styling by employing the correct brushing techniques helps in maintenance and restoration of your hair. Combined with a scalp massage, the result gets even better.

Hair fall is often caused due to the sebaceous glands that produce oil naturally. The overproduction or underproduction of sebum is noticed when the glands start to dysfunction. Sebum provides nutrients to the hair so when it is over produced, hair follicles get too much oil and that oil interferes with the nourishment of hair. This weakens the hair and thus results in hair loss. In case of underproduction of sebum, hair follicles are undernourished. This makes hair rough and dry, which finally results in hair falling out.

Brushing also helps in clearing the debris on the scalp and it eliminates deposits of uric acid grain like particles, prevents our scalp from inflammation, and clears other acids and impurities that build up and form a coating on the scalp. Brushing also stimulates the scalp by increasing blood circulation and the flow of oxygen to the hair roots or hair follicles. But how we benefit the most from brushing of hair is that it keeps the pores on scalp open so that it can breathe as well as retain their natural oils.

People do realize the benefits of brushing but few know the correct techniques to be used to reap those benefits. Hair strands often tangle themselves up in loose or tight knots. Trying to working through the tangles by brush or a comb, we might end up pulling the hair strands from their roots that eventually will result in those strands of hair falling out. So the first thing to do is to remove those tangles before you start using your comb. Once that is done, stand erect and then bend over from the waist. This way due to gravity, hair is suspended in the downward direction and there is a blood flow to the scalp. It stimulates the scalp and hair follicles thus promoting hair growth. Easy gentle strokes should be made from the crown downwards. It loosens the debris as we move towards the front facial hairline.

So those of you, who thought brushing is all about styling, think again!
